4 May 2008Rode a successful 40 miles in Tour de Cure Napa Valley this weekend (I was supposed to go 50…). Napa is such a great place to ride, but I got a little ahead of myself in a draft line and ended up in the middle of the road. I guess I really am a klutz at heart, but at least this wasn’t as embarassing as falling down the stairs at my job interview.
Best quote from the passers-by at the grocery story yesterday, “I know you get this a lot, and I’m going to be just like all those other people; how big was the skate board you fell off of?” Runner up, “You look like a REAL athlete.”
I’m so thankful for a few things, there wasn’t a car coming, my buddy Mark didn’t crash after I crashed into him, and that my bones seem to be doing alright after taking a pretty hard beating.
For now I’m in recovery, and if you have a strong stomach, here are the photos from day 1 and day 2:
I dug snow caves and raised moose in Alaska. These days I surround myself with all things California, and try to avoid being a weekend warrior.
